Usually next to the water meter — on the landing, in a cupboard by the door or under the kitchen sink. Turn it clockwise until it stops.

If water is near sockets, appliances or lights, switch off that circuit at the fuse board.

Usually whoever is responsible for the pipe that leaked, often through insurance. We find the source and give you a written report.
